Decorator painting a wall with a roller
Preparation first, paint second

Painting Contractors in London

A great finish is mostly preparation: filling, sanding, priming and protecting. We do that part properly, then paint walls, woodwork and exteriors to last.

  • Thorough surface preparation
  • Coats and products in writing

The unseen hours

Why preparation takes longer than painting

Paint shows every flaw beneath it. On most jobs, more time goes into filling, sanding, priming and masking than into the final coats. That’s what makes the finish look smooth and stay on.

  • Filled and sanded surfaces
  • Bare timber and repairs primed
  • Floors and furniture protected

FAQ

Painting questions

What people ask before booking decorators.

Do you supply the paint?

We can supply it, or use paint you’ve bought. The quote states which and specifies products and coats.

Can you paint exteriors in winter?

Exterior painting depends on temperature and dry weather. We’ll advise on timing for your job.

Do you paint sash windows?

Yes. Sashes are prepared and painted carefully so they still open freely.

Will you move furniture?

We move and cover furniture within the room where practical; very heavy or valuable items are best moved beforehand.

What about lead paint in older homes?

Older paintwork may contain lead. We take care with preparation methods and can discuss this with you before work starts.

Do you need scaffolding for exteriors?

For upper floors, often yes, or a tower. Any access equipment is listed in the quote.

Can you help choose colours?

We’re happy to give opinions and suggest testing samples on the wall first.

Do you hang wallpaper?

Yes, including lining paper and feature papers.

Are you insured?

Ask for our insurance certificates when you get your painting quote and we’ll share copies before any decorating date is fixed.
